Most of the beer calories come from the alcohol. It varies from beer to beer, but it can get even to 70% out of the total sum of the beer calories. If you want a simple way to compare beer calories between 2 beers, just check out the alcohol percentage. The higher of the both has more beer calories.
Typical beers can have between 100-170 calories. But you really need to check every beer you drink. Have a look at the difference in the beer calories in these beers:
- Sam Adams Boston Lager (4.75%) - 160 beer calories
- Sam Adams Cream Stout (4.69%) - 195 beer calories
- Sam Adams IPA (5.93%) - 175 beer calories
- Sam Adams Light (4.05%) - 124 beer calories
Alcohol should be consumed moderately. If you drink a lot and everyday you might be facing other problems that just the number of beer calories. Plus a lot of people eat a lot of junk food when drinking beer, so that beer belly we hear about might be filled with more than just beer calories.
