Bread Calories
September 4, 2008
There is no general answer for the bread calories question. It has to do with the type of bread you are talking about.
if you are asking about typical white bread calories the answer is around 65-70 calories per slice (approx. 1 oz). However white bread has a relatively low dietary fiber (only 2.4% of its weight). Whole wheat bread calories are just a bit lower than that: it has around 60-65 bread calories per slice and it is high in dietary fiber (7% of the bread’s weight). So whole wheat bread is considered as having a high nutritional value.
Besides the bread calories the whole nutrition values of bread differes from type to type since the different types have a different mix of carbs, fat and protein. Carbs are still the reason for most of the bread calories - at least 50 calories. But if you try the reduced calorie bread, you’ll less than 50 bread calories per slice.
